The effect of a plant-derived biostimulant on metabolic profiling and crop performance of lettuce grown under saline conditions

Summary: This study examined the effects of a plant-derived protein hydrolysate on greenhouse lettuce (Lactuca sativa) under salt stress conditions. The research focused on various plant growth parameters, including root morphology, SPAD index, chlorophyll fluorescence, leaf mineral composition, and metabolic profiling. The application of plant-derived protein hydrolysate improves the performance of lettuce grown under salt stress, enhancing growth, physiological function, and metabolic profiles. The most significant benefits were observed when the biostimulant was applied to both roots and leaves, making this method particularly effective for improving crop resilience to salinity.
